Squad index

The teams page tracks the franchises and national squads the desk follows most closely — IPL franchises, T20 World Cup squads, Asia Cup squads and a rotating set of domestic teams. Each card links to a squad snapshot with form, schedule and the fantasy angle.

How the desk reads a squad

For every squad the desk follows, three windows matter: form (last five innings per player), role clarity (who opens, who bowls the death, who holds the middle order), and the fixture list ahead. A squad in form with a soft fixture run looks very different from the same squad facing three quality attacks in a week.

The squad snapshot covers all three windows in one read. We do not publish player-by-player averages back to a single game — we publish the recent form index, the role map, and the schedule, and let the reader combine them.

Why domestic cricket matters

Domestic cricket is the form lab for international squads. A young spinner who takes seven in a Ranji match is the same bowler who gets called up for a T20 World Cup squad two years later. The desk follows the domestic fixtures not because they're always the headline story, but because they tell us who's coming.

The form index on the squad pages leans on domestic numbers for emerging players and on international numbers for established names — and flags when those two pictures diverge.

FAQ

Teams, answered

How do you pick which squads to cover?

We cover the franchises and national squads our readers follow most closely — IPL franchises, T20 World Cup and Asia Cup squads, plus a rotating set of domestic teams.

Do you publish a fantasy XI for each squad?

No. The desk publishes form, role clarity and schedule. Captaincy cases live on the predictions page.

What about women's cricket?

The desk follows women's international fixtures when they fall in our coverage window — most notably the T20 World Cup and bilateral series.
